Her Laugh

By Hazel Smith, TIWP Student

will i be gone tomorrow?
i wonder if you want to know
i don’t intend to be
it’s just my actions that contradict my speech

this morning i realized i can’t recall her laugh.
i felt nothing.

maybe i want to be locked down
but i push you away when i need you the most
am i the wildest dream you’ve ever known

this morning i realized i can’t recall her laugh.
i felt nothing.

hold my hand
voice stuck in your throat
around your neck wear my birthstone

this morning i realized i can’t recall her laugh.
i felt nothing.

i’d miss you too much. to miss is so cold.
remember what we have. remember my laugh.
