Social Media

By Libby Hawkins, TIWP Student

It’s hard to be positive when social media is portraying how you should look and feel and be. How am I supposed to learn to love myself when all I see are a few types of people and all I am told is that I need to be like them, that I must fit into one category?

Since I was young it was: “Are you girly or a tomboy?” “Do you play with dolls or do you play sports?” That moved into: “Are you popular, artistic, sporty, weird, awkward, or outgoing?” It is hard to truly love your whole self when society is trying to place you into a category.

A person can never be only one thing. We can never be defined with just one word.
