I would like more Patience, please.
If you could leave it in a box on my doorstep
I will open it when I get home from school.
It doesn’t need to be wrapped in a bow or come with a card.
I don’t think I’m asking for much.
I would also like more Compassion, please.
You can send that in the mail so the hands it passes through
get a dose before it’s given to me.
When I move, I will send my new address,
because I need it on an automated delivery plan.
I would like some Love, please.
Bake it in a heart shaped cookie in February,
or in a pumpkin muffin in July.
I want it year-round.
So a popsicle in July will do, or a candy cane in December.
Gluten free and delicious, please.
Lastly, I would like Confidence.
This, you can hurdle at me or smack me in the face with.
If a concussion follows, I can forgive.
I don’t think I’m asking for much.
Because I don’t want to worry if I’m enough.
