Lagging

Prologue
A red light flickered in the distance. The boy standing by rushed toward the only source of light in the infinite darkness.

“No!” Another figure appeared next to the boy and grabbed his arm.

“I have to, Crystella! Let me go!” He snapped his arm away from Crystella’s grasp and ran quickly away from her. 

“Lero! Wait!” Crystella raced after Lero, but it was too late. He had already touched it. The light glowed brighter and spread until the whole space was white. Suddenly, everything was dark again.

Crystella realized that she felt different. Her hair had turned red! Her once brown and cream hair looked like blood. Crystella panicked, and got to her feet. It was a maze. And she was at a dead end.

Chapter 1: Maze Echoes
I could hear an echo in the darkness. I ran after it, frightening a young boy who looked horribly familiar. I felt a tingling spasm pass through my body. It was here. The black monster peered over the side of the hard maze wall. I stared at the ink black skin on the horrid creature. Its eerily white teeth had blood dripping from them, the smile plastered on its face.
