A Confident Woman

By Mira Hubly, TIWP Student

Women walk a fine line between strength and overconfidence in society. People can view women as bossy, but a confident woman doesn’t let others’ opinions stop her. The definition of a confident woman can be shifted because she doesn’t have to fit a strict mold. She embraces her uniqueness. She displays confidence in her opinions, decisions, and identity. She doesn’t worry about what other people think or do. Instead, she stands up for herself and her peers. A confident woman faces obstacles without giving in, turning back, or doubting herself. She doesn’t let fear stop her, and she takes risks. She knows she is capable of various things, and she doesn’t let anyone’s doubts about her stop that mindset. But that doesn’t mean she always has to stand strong and push through every obstacle, because she’s human. Humans don’t have to be strong in every moment, so just like men, women can have moments in which they don’t feel their best. A confident woman has the self-awareness to recognize when she’s not feeling her most confident and to accept herself in that state. Still, a confident woman knows her worth while she leaves space to learn and grow. She acknowledges that growing doesn’t mean reaching perfection. Even with confidence, she still has insecurities. She understands the importance of giving herself some slack rather than stressing out about remaining strong on the inside. A confident woman can lead, take initiative, and pave her own path. She can be her honest self.
